B Is For Broken Bones

"One more pass I'm freezing" said my Dad. I replied "OK make it a long one". "Oh I will" said my Dad. So I started to run down the hill to give my dad then ball. I handed it to him and then kept running and all of the sudden "OUUUUUUCCCCCCHHHHHH" I felt a cracking pain going down my foot. Two weeks ago I broke my ankle playing football with my Dad. I had just broken one of my 206 bones in my body and IT HURT!! The ankle is a huge part of the body and I wouldn't be able to use it for 5 weeks!!!!!:( It hurt a lot and I was very scared when I did it. I didn't even know what happened for about 5 seconds because I was numb all over and I couldn't move. This was so because it was -3 degrees outside. My Dad carried me in to the house and I plopped down on the couch. This is where my story really begins.

"Dad is it broken" I asked. He replied "I don't know but don't worry it will be alright". After my dad sat me down on the couch I needed ice right away so my Mom got it for me. We only thought it was sprained at the time so we weren't that worried at the time. The rest of my day went on and I was still sitting on the couch not knowing what happened to my ankle. I watched TV for the rest of the night until bed time. I obviously didn't have a cast yet so I went to up to bed hopping on one foot. This is harder than you think it is, hopping on one foot is extremely tiring. I was so tired that I didn't even have any trouble going to sleep. Which was good because my ankle was killing me. The importance of parents when you are in pain is extremely important. They comfort you and make you feel happy even though you're sad. My first day with my ankle was very hard and on that day I learned a lot about taking care of myself.

The next morning I woke up early and my ankle was killing me. I didn't go to school because we had to go to the doctors, which was awesome. When I got to the doctors there was a very long walk to get to the office where I would get my cast. I was sweating like crazy because I was so exhausted. When I finally got there 5 minutes later I was very scared to get my cast on because I thought that it would hurt. It didn't at all and I was very happy after I got it on because than I got my crutches. The cast that I got was an air cast because then I would be able to fly to Vancouver in my cast. You can't with a plaster cast because the pressure is too high and it would hurt your foot. My second day with my cast was alright but the best thing was that I got to go watch my friends play hockey. Not as good as playing but tons of fun!!!!

I had a sleepover with my friend that night but the only thing we could do was sit down and watch TV. We would of played football but only if my foot was a lot better. On Monday we were going to the Olympics!!! So for a lot of the weekend we were packing and getting ready for this great experience. I was very excited to go that I even almost forgot about my ankle but only while I was excited which was great.

When we got to the airport we got great accommodation for my ankle which we all loved except for my parents. The reason why I loved it was because they had to push my wheel chair around and carry our bags at the same time. I was completely relaxed which was just amazing for someone with a broken ankle!!!!!!!!!!!! When we got on the plane we got the seat with the most leg room so that I could stretch. I watched movies and went to sleep with no distractions. The one thing about going to the Olympics is your so excited for it that it makes you feel sick which is kind of bad. When we got to the Olympics we went straight to a women's hockey game: Canada vs. Finland women's. The game was great and we all really enjoyed it.

For the rest of the Olympics we had the most fun ever!!! We watched more hockey and even the women's biathlon. This was an amazing and very fun experience and I wouldn't of missed it for the world!!!!

LIFE LESSON: NEVER EVER BREAK YOUR ANKLE BUT IF YOU DO DON'T LET IT RUIN YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCES AND YOUR LIFE.
